Hi, I’m Nicola, Owner and Founder of dot + tom

I founded dot + tom because of my love of interior design, gorgeous natural materials, and my passion for designing and creating beautiful products that add a touch of warm indulgence to any interior space.

When I lived and worked in London, I studied Interior Design at the KLC School of Design in Chelsea Harbour and had a particular love for home accessories and dressing the interior space.

When I became a mother, my children’s love for blankets inspired me to combine my passions for family and quality, beautiful home accessories. My three boys love wrapping up in their favourite blankets for cosy family movie nights!

So I set out to create beautiful blankets and throws that would look gorgeous in any home, make you feel amazing, and last for years to come as a special heirloom.

The Process

Our production process begins in Jersey with ideas for new designs sketched out on paper and on Pinterest boards. They are then translated into patterns by our knitwear designer based in Cornwall and finally produced by one of our partner mills in Scotland or England. We choose our artisans carefully and love working with family run businesses to create beautiful products.

I personally ensure that each of our pieces embodies our values of beauty and quality white utilizing the most sustainable methods and materials available.

Mixing it up

Colour and light play a huge role in our designs, so I try to bring a pop of colour to my designs and the products I chose to work with.

I also love variety and have favourite blankets for different occasions. Sometimes you just need more than one!

The cashmere home throws are so soft and beautiful, and I’ll always grab a pink pinstripe for the sofa. My six-year-old son is a mega fan of his ‘monkey’ cashmere blanket and won’t sleep without it. And in the summer as we move into more outside time, I can’t get enough of our picnic rugs and wool blankets, which are the perfect al fresco accessory.

Sustainability

We are working to be more sustainable and considerate to not only the environment but to working practices in the factories involved in our manufacturing process. It is key that we understand the impact of our company and that we work towards a better world for us and generations that will come after us.

Sustainability is a learning process and an ongoing journey. dot + tom pledges to continue to strive for excellence of quality while being kind to the environment and the amazing people who work to create and deliver our products. We commit to utilizing ‘honest’ materials and working practices.
